A Bird in the Nest is Worth Two in the House...

In March some birds built a nest in our front door wreath, and a few weeks later we noticed that there were blue eggs inside.

We tried to limit our front door use, but really didn't think much more about it until a few weeks ago during our youth group "small group night out" when the senior girls were gathered at our home.  We were just minding our own business like normal people...

Later that evening, Reed and Matt had arrived home from their tour de small group night out.  We heard Reed announce, "there's a bird in the house," and thought ha ha kids are so silly ...then we realized that he had opened the front door and a bird was, in fact, inside our home.

Turns out the eggs had just hatched, and I don't think momma bird was planning to go too far from her babies!

Chaos of sorts ensued as we tried to get the bird back outside.  It was very funny, but also kind of frightening each time she would take flight... in a duck and cover sort of way.  She visited the top of our refrigerator, the stove, and the armoire.

Reed brings up "the bird" every so often, but I'm pretty sure he thinks it was funny and exciting, not scarring.  We hope.
